What is Feng Shui? Its Schools, Systems & Approaches Feng Shui has become a confusing topic for many, even for those who deem themselves well-read on the subject. There are currently over 300 published books on Feng Shui, thousands of websites, and hundreds of Feng Shui courses offered on the market. The popularity of the practice has also produced the overnight experts, charlatans, and even self-proclaimed Feng Shui "Masters.” Many of the latter are self-taught North American-based Asians who regurgitate Chinese texts, plentiful in Hong Kong and Taiwan, to unsuspecting westerners; these self-taught geniuses spend an inordinate amount of time discrediting the genuine old-school Asian Masters in an effort to develop a lucrative following outside of Asia. The mass amount of Feng Shui information, however, does not help enthusiasts understand the subject. Quite the contrary. There are several schools, systems and techniques to Feng Shui. Some are valid and others are spin-off businesses and marketing schemes capitalizing on the renewed popularity of Feng Shui in the modern era.
